Mimic Machines are enemies encountered in Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot DLC for Borderlands 3.
Background
Mimic Machines are disguised as gambling machines and can be found throughout the Grand Opening and The Spendopticon. They only drop their disguise when Vault Hunters get in close proximity or try to interact with them. There are two types:
- Type 1 is unarmed and tries to run away as soon as their disguise is blown. They will only melee Vault Hunters if cornered.
- Type 2 dual-wields SMGs and will attack Vault Hunters and even aggressively chase them.
Both types, when destroyed, spill out fairly large amount of cash, Eridium bars, health vials, ammunition, grenade or class mods and weapons. Mimics may also drop the Slot Shot weapon trinket.
Appearances
Strategy
Being robots, Mimic Machines are vulnerable to corrosive damage. Their large screens are critical spots.
Quotes
- When discovered:
- Rise.
- I live.
- I'm not like the others.
- Oh, Boy. HA HA HA!
- When destroyed:
- Ahhh... raspberries.
- Bar. Bar. Bar.
Notes
- Just south from the Vice District Fast Travel Station, there is a guaranteed spawn point for three Type 2 Mimic Machines.
- In Mayhem Mode and True Vault Hunter Mode they are renamed Rigged Mimic Machine.
- Normally there is no way to distinguish a disguised Mimic machine from a normal gambling machine until they drop their disguise. However, if playing on Mayhem Mode and using a Modifier like High Voltage or Totally Radical, a Mimic Machine that spawns with that modifier can be spotted while still disguised by its pulsating effect.
