Shadow Devil are Saurian enemies unique to Gehenna encountered in the Borderlands 3 DLC Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption.
Background
- Shadow Devil are yet another species of Saurian on Gehenna with unique and terrifying abilities due to experiments by the Jakobs Corporation.
Appearances
Strategy
Shadow Devils are a unique version of Grog from Eden-6 with the ability to "cloak" and turn invisible, or at least translucent. They always hunt in packs, and are usually accompanied by larger Grog variants like Croaker Devil. Upon spotting an enemy, Shadow Devils will cloak and move to attack from multiple angles—usually from the side while larger enemies (if present) attack head-on—decloak and spit gobs of acidic saliva at their enemy, then recloak and move to a different spot. While it can make their location harder to pinpoint in certain environments, the Shadow Devil's translucent cloak is usually pretty easy to spot, especially when they're moving. They also can be tracked by the croaking noise they make, and the sound of their footsteps.
Notes
- Several domesticated Shadow Devils can be seen at the Saurdew Valley Ranch in The Blastplains.
- In Mayhem Mode and True Vault Hunter Mode, they are renamed Shadeborne Devil.
Trivia
- Like Klingon and Romulan ships from Star Trek, Shadow Devils have to decloak in order to fire. They cannot "fire" their acid spit while cloaked.
- Shadow Devil preferring to attack from the sides is the same tactic used by velociraptors in the 1993 film Jurassic Park.
