The flames of faith must never be extinguished! When you level the weapons of the Children of the Vault at your foes, you need not think of reloading - their fire is as limitless as the God Queen's power!
— Manufacturer introduction

COV (Children of the Vault) is a manufacturer introduced in Borderlands 3.

Borderlands 3

COV replaces the Bandit brand from Borderlands 2. The weapons are similar in design and their unique magazine capacity stays true to the large magazine sizes of the former bandit weapons.

Weapons of the Children of the Vault behave differently than conventional weapons. When they are drawn, the engine must be started, leaving the character vulnerable for a moment as they can't be fired immediately. These weapons also do not have a magazine; instead they pull ammunition directly from the weapon's pool and therefore never need to be reloaded. The weapons feature a heat gauge that heats up as the weapon is continuously fired. If this gauge reaches its limit, the weapon will "break" and must be fixed. The fixing animation is essentially the same as reloading but typically takes longer than other manufacturers' equivalents' reloads. It is also more inconsistent as various fixing animations are used for each weapon. If the weapon stops firing for some time, heat begins to rapidly dissipate.

Another notable feature of COV weapon is their unorthodox accessories: A COV pistol/assault rifle's may fire more projectiles with extra ammo cost (from 1 to 3), or provide much higher melee damage bonus (+80%~120%) comparing other manufacturers (40%~60% mostly). Psycho Stabber, a Legendary COV pistol, has the highest bonus of +340% among all melee-buffing weapons.

COV guns resemble their Bandit creators as crude, makeshift weapons with catchy appearance. They are typically created from junk, featuring scavenged weapon parts from other manufacturers, as well as covered with spikes, spray paintings and neon light tubes. Unlike their bandit/scav counterparts, which boast variety in their arsernal, COV weapons focus exclusively on pistols, assault rifles, and rocket launchers. All COV weapons fire in full-automatic.

Overview

CoV weapons do not appear in Borderlands 4, but enhancements and licensed weapon part are available. Their stylization has also been changed from "COV" to "CoV".

Weapon Part

CoV's Magazine licensed & visual part is called "Bulletforge" which visually is a red hot furnace that is able to produce ammunition on-the-fly, but will overheat and breaks if used continuously.

Guns with CoV magazines, unlike their previous counterparts, are ready to be fired once they are drawn, and the damage to the weapon in case of overheat is less severe (it is simply fixing the bulletforge instead of, for example, replacing an entire barrel). Their time to fix is also faster than with the old CoV guns, although weapons that also have Tediore accessories will be slower than those without CoV (or Ripper) magazines.

Part type Icon Name — Effect
Licensed Part LPCoV Magazine — This Gun has an unlimited Magazine size, however it will heat up, and eventually break (fixing the gun is CoV's reload mechanism).
