borderlands

Amon is the playable Forgeknight class in Borderlands 4.

Background

Amon was born into Vault Monster worship on the planet Perium, and he is the only survivor of his cult's attempt to open a Vault. He now seeks revenge by killing as many of the monsters as he can, and perhaps may find absolution. Against expectations, however, he is described as a cordial warrior-poet.[3] [4]

The cult used to have many important days, and Amon's sister and his husband, Malcolm, would always fight to see who would get to host the solstice celebration. Amon's sister was always the winner, though Amon preferred Malcom's desserts over hers. Before he left Perium, Amon broke off a piece of stone, possibly Malcolm's gravestone, to keep Malcolm with him and to help him remember the important parts of what once was his life.[5]

At some point after starting his crusade, Amon came across another Vault Monster cult on a planet; as the high priest begins the process to summon it, he immediately interrupts and advises against it. Unperturbed, the priest sends two of his followers to restrain Amon but are brutally pulverized in seconds. Amon recounts his cult being slaughtered by one, another killing numerous soldiers sent against it and suffering wounds from fighting many of them; the high priest gets annoyed that Amon is talking so much and tries shooting him, only for Amon to summon his shield and elemental whip.

As more cultists are sent to fight Amon, the high priest ends up summoning the Vault Monster and gleefully gazes into the void before getting swatted away by the crustacean like monster that comes out. It messily smashes several cultists and tosses one into a nearby cliff; Amon uses his Crucible ability, joining a magma and frost axe together and tosses it at the Vault arc with enough force to destroy a portion of it; this causes the doorway to immediately seal and amputate the Vault Monster's pincer arm.

Amon goes to calm the surrounding crowd, but is shot in the face by the high priest, wounded and now raving mad. The priest rambles on about missing out on viewing paradise due to Amon's actions; he turns towards the priest, one eye obliterated from the gunshot and growls that he belongs here "with the demons." Amon forms a demented grin as he crushes the high priest's head so hard, his brain is transformed into a diamond. After taking it with him, Amon travels and meets up with the other Vault Hunters on Kairos, showing the diamond brain to their shock and amazement.[6]
