Ravagers deal immense close-range damage with both their projectiles and splash, making them among the most powerful non-legendary shotguns in the game in terms of raw output. This comes at the cost of a low fire rate and heavy ammo consumption at 4 per shot. Ravagers are naturally effective against larger enemies due to their spread and at distances past point-blank or close-range, the wielder should lead the target to ensure multiple pellets hit.
The Ravager can trigger either one of Krieg's skils Blood Bath, Blood Overdrive, or both depending on how an enemy is killed, with a direct hit or by the splash damage of one of the pellets.
Gaige's Close Enough works with these explosive bullets, too, causing them to ricochet and explode on target from maximum range for devastating damage. Salvador's Keep Firing... can also increase its low fire rate and reload speed, allowing it to be much more effective and versatile.
Claptrap's One Last Thing synergizes exceptionally with Ravagers. The skill buffs splash damage only on the second-to-last shot and the actual pellets on the final one, which benefits them immensely as most can only sustain around two shots before reloading
