Tangy is the title of a group of common submachine guns in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. They are manufactured exclusively by scavs and feature the corrosive-only Maliwan barrel.
Usage & Description
The Tangy is part of a rare sub-group of SMGs that always spawn with a Maliwan barrel and fixed element. Their main selling point is the improved elemental chance and damage granted by the Maliwan barrel, in addition to a slight increase in accuracy. Even at low rarities, the high damage-over-time potential can make them excellent choices for combat against armoured enemies. In particular, they can be highly effective against groups for quickly applying corrosion effects to several different enemies, allowing a player to passively inflict damage while they reposition or focus on another target.
Notes
- Other SMGs in this grouping manufactured by the Scavs include the Shokking (shock), Spicy (incendiary), and Chilly (cryo).
- The Tangy only spawns at green or higher rarity.
- Because of the fixed parts configuration, SMGs in this group spawn much more rarely than their rarity color would seem to indicate (most often found at green rarity and, even more rarely, blue or purple rarity) and may often be overlooked and sold off or ignored by users unfamiliar with their uncommonness. Note that Maliwan-manufactured SMGs with this barrel are much more common and will spawn at rarities ranging from white to purple.
- The Tangy is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.
- The equivalent Bandit weapon in Borderlands 2 is the Barfy.
