Magma is a legendary sniper rifle in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel manufactured by Maliwan. The It is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.
Special Weapon Effects
Liquid hot. – Always incendiary. Increased splash damage and elemental chance. Reduced projectile damage. Elemental damage can spread to other enemies in close proximity.
Usage & Description
The Magma should be used from long range in typical sniper rifle fashion. However, the Magma's elemental effect is strong enough on its own to let the direct damage it does take second priority, as the spread effect makes it highly effective against groups.
Notes
- The elemental splash inflicts 80% of listed weapon damage and is affected by skills that boost grenade damage.
- Occasionally, the incendiary DoT glitches, inflicting only one point of damage per DoT tick.
Trivia
- The Magma shares the special effect and appearance of the Volcano, a legendary Maliwan sniper rifle in Borderlands 2.
- The Magma's skin has a charred appearance and has the same colors as Blue quality variants but with increased saturation and reversed pattern.
- On some bladed variants, the blade takes on a more purple tone than blades on other sniper rifles. All variants also have this purple tone in the details of the weapon.
- The flavour text may be a reference to an Austin Powers movie, in which the phrase "liquid hot magma" is said by Dr. Evil.
