Points of Interest
Holography Chamber
A repository of electronic records, guarded by a large number of Bonded. This is one of the first areas Farseer Maclech and Skrit are encountered, with Farseer summoning Onlookers; as these both fly and can move quickly, a shotgun or SMG is best used here. In the center of the chamber is a holoprojector with the first of several ECHO log's about Eleanor and Vincent's past.
Public Library
Where the next ECHO log is found. There are also a large number of Bonded here, including Necromancer Skrit who are capable of reanimating defeated Bonded, they can also move rapidly and throw corrupted hearts like grenades, which bypass shields and do health damage, therefore it is advisable to kill them first. On the left-hand side of the room (when coming from Holography Chamber), when the wall in the nook is approached a Grawn will burst out, revealing a hidden staircase. Up the stairs a white weapon chest can be found on the second level, there is also a balcony to the left with a bookcase, there is a skull on one of the shelves with a hidden button in its eye, activating it reveals a hidden room behind the bookcase containing a toilet, a few parcels & strong boxes, and another white chest. The second section of the library contains the ECHO log hidden behind another bookcase along with a portal chest, and one of Mancubus' Eldritch Statues.
Central Database
A series of servers where the Archive's digital information is stored, and the location of the third ECHO log. The door leading from the Holography Chamber to the Database is blocked by a large pile of books, requiring the Vault Hunter to travel through a ventilation shaft on the other side of the wall and destroy the barricade. Once inside the shaft, the route to the barricade is to the left, going right and climbing up to another shaft leads to a white weapon chest. There are a number of ammo crates (most of which contain grenades), safes, strongboxes, and wood crates in the lower and upper levels. The second room contains the server's main database hub, when first entering the room there is another ventilation shaft to the left which can be used to bypass some of the Bonded in the room, and reach an upper level that gives the Vault Hunter a good vantage point to launch a sneak attack from; just after exiting the vent shaft there is another bookcase with a hidden room behind it on the left. An Ascendant Grawn will burst out of a hidden bathroom behind a wall in the room with the ECHO log, there are two toilets and a white chest in the bathroom.
The Forbidden Stacks
The part of the Archive containing Eleanor's more powerful arcane secrets, which are locked behind a gate and guarded by a large number of Bonded. Just before the locked gate, there is a white weapon chest on the upper level on the right side of the first room, on the left side of the upper level is a potential Eridium jar spawn point, and another one is just past the gate on the lower level below the first jar. There is another white chest on the left, just before the stairs that lead to the Den of Inquiry. There is a locked gate leading to a side room just before the stairs, the gate is unlocked during the side mission The Nibblenomicon. This room contains the Archive's most profane and cursed tomes of knowledge, including the Nibblenomicon, which are locked behind several gates. There is a maintenance room behind a locked door on the second floor where the heating system is located, which can be accessed via a ventilation shaft.
Den of Inquiry
The first part of the Den is an atrium guarded by Bonded, with a number of glass display cases filled with large, otherworldly looking fungi and plants, some have escaped their cases, one of which is growing on the holoprojector. When first entering the Den, there is a possible Eridium jar spawn point to the right. Just in front of the jar spawn point is a large plant case, with a balcony above it that contains a loot portal and a red cultist chest. The second room of the Den is a conservatory with otherworldly looking trees in open-air planters, and is infested with Krich. A possible Eridium jar and a white chest can be found on the right side of the room.
Open Air Garden
Just outside the Den of Inquiry's conservatory is an open air garden leading to the Founder's Office. Just after exiting the conservatory another Eridium jar spawn is just past the exit on the left. After passing through the gate leading the the vending machines, there will be a white chest on the right and a second one directly in front of it, just before the vending machines. The second part of the garden is where the Vault Hunter encounters the Empowered Scholar, a boss that is a unique Skrit with the combined powers of an Ascendant Skrit, and Necromancer Skrit, allowing him to heal and buff allies, as well as resurrect fallen allies as Revived Malech. Just past the area where the Scholar is fought, one of Gaige's Gifts can be found off a side path.
Open Air Garden
Founder's Office
The former office of Eleanor and Vincent, just before entering the office there are Eridium jar and Eridian weapon chest spawn points on the right. Inside the office are several strong boxes, safes, a talking fish, and two white weapon chests. A hidden room behind a bookcase contains a red chest, and a one-way Fast Travel station.
Art Gallery
The Gallery remains locked until progressing through Cold Case: Restless Memories with Burton Briggs. Progressing through the Gallery also requires equipping and using the Seventh Sense revolver, some doors have to be unlocked by viewing it through the revolver's scope and shooting the spirit "locks". The Gallery is a maze of invisible barriers that require the revolver's special scope to navigate, without the scope the barriers appear as a shimmer in the air, but parts of them are completely invisible. About halfway through the first maze, a loot portal is on the left side of the room, although it is at a dead end in the maze, after looting it the Vault Hunter will need to backtrack. There are two white weapon chests in the maze past the loot portal. The room past the maze is a large mezzanine with paintings and sculptures, not to mention a bunch of ghosts, the Vault Hunter will be attacked by unique Shade Malech and Mantakore shades, which can only been seen through the scope; although they can be damaged with any weapon, the Malech's gunfire can be used to determine their position. There are lock boxes and strong boxes scattered around the mezzanine, and a talking fish on the lower level.
Red Chests
- There is a red chest in the Den of Inquiry on an upper balcony on the right side of the room. The balcony can be reached by jumping onto the railing, then jumping over to one of the wall-mounted monitors, then climbing up.
- There is a red chest in the Founder's Office, it is located behind a bookcase that opens after picking up the final ECHO Log. The chest serves as one of the rewards for completing The Case of Wainwright Jakobs.
Trivia
- Title given by the game is "Library".
- In the upstairs portion of the atrium above Harriet's desk, there is a portrait of an old man in a wheelchair wearing an oxygen mask with a I.V. pole behind him and a shadowy figure next to him, with a hand on his shoulder. This is a reference to the 1996 video game series Resident Evil, the man in the wheelchair closely resembles Umbrella CEO Oswell E. Spencer, and the person next to him Albert Wesker.
Resident Evil Easter egg
- Some of the computer monitors in the Archive are displaying a wheel-diagram, with the diagram points labeled: Acrobatics, Arcana, Athletics, Deception, History, Insight, Stealth, Perception, Performance, Investigation, Intimidation, Persuasion, Religion, Nature, Survival, & Medicine. These are the 18 skill proficiencies in the 2012 version of the tabletop RPG Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition.
