Usage & Description
The Surkov is a sniper rifle hybrid between a pump-action and semi-automatic; like pump-action sniper rifles, its ordnance has high critical hit damage, but it also has a relatively high fire rate, and fast reload. Unfortunately, the Surkov has exceptionally mediocre accuracy for a sniper rifle. Because of these traits, the Surkov is best used as a "combat" sniper rifle, and used at medium to close range.
Trivia
- The name is a reference to Mikhail Ilyich Surkov, allegedly a World War 2 Red Army sniper who was said to have over 700 confirmed kills.
- The red text is a reference to Russia, which Russians affectionately call "The Motherland". Especially often this word was used in the means of Soviet propaganda (as a "Mother Motherland" phrase) during World War II just after the German mass invasion "Operation Barbarossa".
The phrase "For the Motherland" (Russian "За Родину!", tr. "Za Rodinu") was a common war cry amongst Soviet soldiers during World War II.
Mechanics
The Surkov effect comes from the barrel2_Vladof_Surkov barrel, which is based on barrel2, the least accurate barrel available for sniper rifles. It provides much better reload speed and fire rate, as well as generally better stats.
