Deathless is a legendary artifact in Borderlands 3 manufactured by Eridian. It is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from Phoenix located in The Splinterlands on Pandora.
Special Effects
What do we say to the God of Death? – Reduces character health to 1. Increases shield capacity by 100%. Increases shield recharge rate by 25%, reduces recharge delay by 25%.
Usage & Description
The character's current HP cannot increase past 1, but max health remains the same. This works well with any character wishing to take advantage of a large shield capacity and is particularly effective for Moze, whose Shield of Retribution skill tree has many methods of enhancing shield capabilities. The Deathless is also often combined with the Bloodletter class mod to provide much higher survivability, as it will convert any health gain to shields.
The Deathless is most often used with the "While under 50% health, deal 150% bonus radiation damage" anointment, granting the player 150% bonus damage at all times. Builds that utilize this strategy are often glass cannons, forgoing an artifact that grants more survivability for much higher damage, eliminating threats before they could deal significant damage.
The Front Loader is a popular choice when using the Deathless, as the downside of it reducing health is negated.

Notes
- A Deathless with the Last Stand prefix grants invulnerability for 5 seconds whenever the character takes any damage, with a 40 second cooldown. The cooldown on this invulnerability can be bypassed by unequipping and reequipping it.
- Moze's Desperate Measures will permanently grant maximum damage with a Deathless equipped.
- Deathless' special effect functions similarly to Moze's Thin Red Line skill and the Front Loader shield. These effects can all be stacked.
- While equipped, health packs will spawn more frequently, replacing ammo, due to the character constantly being low health. As mentioned before, Moze can exploit this to great effect with the Bloodletter class mod, converting health gain into shield gain.
- While the Deathless can spawn with a bonus to max health, it does not override the artifact's health reduction and therefore has no effect.
- The Knife Drain prefix and health regeneration passive can spawn on the Deathless, but both have no effect directly.
- Using a projector-type shield with the Deathless is not recommended as the projected shield leaves the character vulnerable from behind, being crippled instantly by any damage or area of effect while crouching.
Trivia
- The flavor text is a reference to Game of Thrones television serial drama. Syrio Forel asks Arya Stark "What do we say to the God of Death", to which she responds "Not today".
